“Reach” vulnerable children. “Touch” their lives with meaningful support.

The conviction that gave this organisation its name in 2015 — and still guides every programme we run today.

Our Story

From a Compassionate Vision to a Structured Non-Profit

Reach and Touch Charity Initiative was established in response to the growing challenges faced by children with special needs and the families who care for them — founded on the belief that every child, regardless of ability, deserves dignity, inclusion, and the opportunity to thrive.

Many families raising children with special needs face emotional strain, financial pressure, limited access to therapy and inclusive education, and social stigma. Our founder was driven to create a structured support system that extends beyond charity — one that empowers families, promotes acceptance, and advocates for inclusion.

What began as a single outreach has evolved into a registered, structured non-profit organisation focused on sustainable, family-centred impact, active in Nigeria and extending its reach to the UK.

Why We Exist

Inclusion Shouldn’t Depend on Luck

Families raising children with special needs in Nigeria routinely face limited access to specialised care and therapy, financial strain, inadequate inclusive education, social stigma, and no structured guidance to turn to — leaving parents to navigate it all largely alone.

  • Limited access to specialised care, therapy, and assistive devices
  • Financial strain associated with long-term developmental support
  • Inadequate inclusive education opportunities in mainstream schools
  • Social stigma, isolation, and discrimination against children with disabilities
  • Lack of structured guidance and support networks for caregivers

Why Disability Advocacy Matters

Reach & Touch was founded on a simple conviction: these children need more than sympathy — they need structured intervention, advocacy, and empowered caregivers. What began as a compassionate vision to reach vulnerable children and touch their lives with meaningful support has grown into a registered non-profit strengthening families across Nigeria, one relationship at a time.

Community support turns awareness into acceptance — it is what allows a child with special needs to be seen first as a child, and supported as one, everywhere they go.

Success Stories

Improved School Inclusion

  1. 1

    Challenge

An 8-year-old child with developmental challenges faced exclusion from mainstream classroom participation, with teachers unequipped to offer special needs accommodations.

  2. 2

    Support Provided

Reach & Touch worked directly with the family and the school — training teachers in adaptive learning strategies and coaching caregivers on how to advocate within the classroom.

  3. 3

    Positive Outcome

An 8-year-old child with developmental challenges was facing exclusion from mainstream classroom participation due to limited understanding of special needs accommodations. Through caregiver guidance and school engagement facilitated by the Initiative, the school adopted adaptive learning strategies. Within one academic year, the child demonstrated improved classroom participation, increased confidence, and better social interaction with peers.
